something to manipulate? | ADHD Information

Hi,

I know there is some product that adhd kids can hold/play with in school to keep their hands busy so they can pay better attention.  I can't remember the name of it so searching hasn't helped at all.  I think it's something like "wikit?"  but nothing comes up.

TIA,
Lisa
I didn't know such a thing existed.  I would be intrested in this one as well.  Try searching online for adhd stress balls.  I have seen sites advertising stress balls for adhd.

Are you thinking of Wikki Stix?  If so, here's a link:

We  used to use them when my ds was in preschool.  I searched sensory integration and found fidget toys.  There are many different types of toys available.

We have also tried different seat cushions.  When they feel the need to get up and move...instead they can wiggle their bottoms on these special seat cushions and it gives them the same type of release as if they had actually gotten out of their seat.

Do your research there are so many products for these kids parents could just spend a ton of $

My son has never used anything but we've talked about it in meetings.  The teachers and therapists said that the stress balls and seat cushions usually become toys in the classroom.  As well, my son didn't want other kids to know he was using anything.  I think silly putty in their hand sounds good.  Our OT also recommended putting a strip of velcro under their desk so they could keep one hand busy rubbing the velcro and no one would notice.  We didn't try that but I thought it was a great idea :-)great ideas thank youBumpDD uses Silly putty, an as long as she only squishes it and holds it the teacher is ok with itMy son just plays with the his foam pencil grips.  The teacher had given him a stress ball, but he said it was too big and he kept knocking it on the floor.
