SLOW RELEASE RITILIN>

My 8 year old son takes 30mg of ritilin a day and its been a year almost since he started the doctor has said that he is on a high dose for his age I dont want to put him on a higher dose surly there must be a natural way?

Michelle  - has a higher dose been discussed ? or are you thinking in the future?

My 14 year old is on 40 mg and has been for some years now -  in general - the dosage sometimes needs to be altered because of growth / weight.  ( my son also takes a quick release @ mid day because he has a very high metobolism.

Fish oil has been succesful for us (although I know for others it has not) and I give it to him on med breaks especially.  To us he is more balanced with the fish oil and he tells us that he feels the difference.  There are other SR medicines that can be considered too of course - we recently tries concerta however it wasn't as good as his other regime so we went back also concerta is not funded here in NZ>

Take care and remember ADDers ADD to our lives.

Michelle, why do you feel it is not working, whats going on.  Perhaps he needs to change his type of med.

Are you seeing a psychiatrist or just a pediatrician.  I always so strongly suggest to parents who's kids are on medications, to talk to the medication experts - PSYCHIATRISTS.
