well my son has been on Daytrana for 4 days now, today will be the first school day on it. I send a comunication book back and forth to school, I'm very curiouse as to what todays entry will be. I'm trying to be hopefull about this med change! so we will see!

The best things about this site:

1) The "OMIGOD, my kid does that too!" factor
2) The fact that a lot of people - okay, most - "get" what you're talking
about
3) You can talk about your day from hell
3) It's a great place to compare, to whine and to brag!!

Cheers!2XADHD?39194.6647916667now, you guys have me wanting to track using a calendar.  Thinking about this I could probably say it happens about once a month for my son too.  Hmmmmm!Hi, and welcome.  What you are saying about cycles I know I have read that here before but cant remeber where.  My 10 year old is on Daytrana also, 15 mgs.  He started on 10 and only worked for a month.  He is having a lot of sucess with Daytrana though.  He doesn't take it on weekends unless theres homework to be done.  The first day I gave it to him he got sick but never again.  I usually take it off at about 4pm so he is hungry for dinner.  He also goes to bed later.  I hope it works good for your son.  This is a great place to get info, or to vent.  Everyone on here is very incouraging.  We have noticed the same thing with our son. My husband swears it's the moon.  Who knows? Crazy things happen with a full moon sometimes (many in my house!)  Check your calendar and see if this is when it is happening. Good luck to us!

I think my sons dr. thinks I nuts, because I try to explain to him that my son does O.K. on his meds but I sware he has "cycles" what I mean by this is for just about 1 full week out of each month my son is off the wall, it is as though he's not even on meds. Now I have gone so far as literaly charting things on a calender. I mentioned this to his teacher and she also has seen this pattern. I mention this to the dr. and he just looks at me and says "interesting"

Has anyone heard of such a thing?

welcome, this is a great place to gain knowledge and ask questions:)

I'm a mom of 3.....17y,15y,7y.......I'm new to the forum, I want to jut "cry" cause by reading the post I see that our family isn't the only family going through this battle. We go day by day!!!!

My 7y son was d/w adhd 2 years ago. He WAS on focolin xr 5mg, in the A.M and then Focolin 2.5 at 4pm. It seems its wearing off in the early afternoon. The DR. took him off Focolin and put him on Daytrana 10mg patch this is a very recent change, like, yesterday!

I have so many ???????? its kind of overwhelming.

well THANK-YOU for this forum, I'm going to read-on and definatly re-post!

Welcome beach3mom,

You will find help and support here. I have found this place to be invaluble on this ADHD journey.

Thanks! We have an appointment to see the Dr. this week!

my son has been on daytrana 10mg patch for almost 2 weeks and we're having really good results in school. I talke the patch off around 6pm seems like soon after that he does loose his temper VERY quickly and instead of getting just mad at things he hits/kicks what ever is around???

I was having a problem with taking off the backing of the patch, and like others, I wasted about 5-7 in the first week. I did call the CO. like I read in some posts, and they sent me a "free 40" card!!!! Also, I mentioned that I put the patch in the freezer for a min or 2 , they suggested fold back and forth where its scored and then hold each corner and "roll" it back and forth. Ya sounds odd,BUT IT WORKS!!!!!!!

It sounds like he is having rebound from the meds leaving his system. You may need to get a low dose, short acting form of the med to give when you take of the patche to ease this. Depending how you remove the patch, you might ask the doc if you can peel it back and cut off half of it  (or more) and remove the rest an hour later. Just an odd, "out there" thought.

I am glad to here it is working for your son. Now it is just a matter of adjusting to get the most benefit for his individual needs.
