It might be useful to ask about an antidepressant. They work on anxiety and can help with some ADHD symptoms. Is the prescribing doc a psychiatrist. I would be more comfortable with a psychiatrist managing meds once you get to  these types.

Another alternative would be to try guanfacine for the hyperactivity and reduce or drop the stim. The guanfacine should be enough for the ADHD symptoms for the summer. This is all we are using this summer for my youngest. When the long acting guanfacine comes out from Shire, it will be more convenient.

DS was doing great on Daytrana 15mg patch. (He's 6 1/2). We had to
lower to 10mg because his anxiety really got bad with the spring season.
This happened last year, but it is worse this year. As soon as spring
started and it got warmer, he is just freaked about bees and wasps. He
practically has a panic attack going outside. We can get him to go out
and play, but he is very anxious and doesn't want to stay out very long.
His teacher gets him out for recess (2-4 times per day), but it takes some
coaxing. We are doing all we can in terms of "educating" him about bugs
and he also sees a therapist. It doesn't seem to help too much.

I am considering asking his dr for another med for this anxiety. I am just
concerned about putting him on another med because I know he doesn't
have this problem in the cold weather/winter. It's seasonal. His anxiety is
always there year round in some aspect, but not like it is now. It's
affecting his "playtime" I guess you could say.

I could schedule summer camps that keep him inside most of the
summer, but I don't think that's the answer. We are going to have to deal
with it sometime. T-ball starts this week and I don't see it happening at
this point. DS wants to play so bad, but he can't seem to get a handle on
this anxiety.

Any suggestions? Does anyone have this problem of ADHD/anxiety. He
really needs meds to focus and to control hyperactivity.
