We could not survive without zoloft. My son has been on it for 6 years with a few breaks - only 25 mg for a number of years with an increase to 50mg as he got older. We have tried other things like prozac but we have had terrible reactions. Witrhout his zoloft he becomes paranoid, extremely anxious and obsessive about things. We did find that he had nausea when we increased it to 50, so went back down to 25mg for a few years. Increasing it to 50mg due to an increase in anxiety, created no side effects.

It may be posible to adjust the stim dose due to the addition of the zoloft. Antidepressants are a 3rd line med for ADHD symptoms, so the zoloft may help in that area as well. It is all a balance.Is your son on a stimulant as well? Was wondering after starting the zoloft, if you could decrease the dosage of the stimulant? It seems like he wakes up calm in the morning, but when he takes the stimulant, he gets hyper.

Has been having some behavior issues at school since he started the Zoloft, but is much more social than before. The doc said to gradually work up to 25 mg. of Zoloft.
