Concerta problems? | ADHD Information

I was on Concerta before (I am now on Strattera) but I found with Concerta when it wears off you really come down off it fast, the problem with your son probably is that the drug has just worn off and he is back to normal but the shift makes him irritable... I got off Concerta for the same reason.  It is common for kids to get rebound .  The xr meds usually wear off after 8 to 10 hours.  You might want to consider a low dose  for after school to get him through the evening.  Talk to his doctor.My almost 11 year old is taking Concerta and it works great but in the evening he is getting VERY irritable. I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem. It is working wonderfully during the day and he has a great attitude but the evening is a different story. The irritability doesn't last all night. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem. ThanksWe were just having this discussion on a different thread with similar issue with long Adderall XR. These kids rebound when the meds start to wear off. My daughter gets it form Ritalin LA, except hers is extreme silliness...........WAY easier to deal with than irritable or crying. Has he been on the Concerta long?He started off on Adderall but that caused him heart pain ( his words ) the Dr. sent him for a ekg, which was fine so they put him on concerta. He has been on it for about 6 months. He recently got his dosage increased to 54 mg because it was no longer working. We had the same problems with the lower dosage. Just trying to find out if that is a common side effect and if any one has any suggestions on how to tell with the time that he is irratible. Thanks
