I started to give him NNaturals omega 3, one teaspoon a day. And also a dinosaur vitamin with Dha and epa.
Not sure how many mg a teaspoon is. The bottle recommends 1 t per day. Maybe it's not enough.
thanks, so nice notellin knows our birthdays!
He was 4 1/2 in January, so he must be turning five very shortly. Up to 1000 mg daily is good for a 5 yo with ADHD.
I bumped your post on this same topic which included a lot of good feedback.
nOTELLIN: where have you all told me this already?
1000 mg for a 4 year old? Wow.
Patience is the key. Model behaviors for him. After he has a inappropriate response about something, model for him what he should have done, and let him have a "do-over". If he doesn't have the words, give him the words. I still do this with my dd who is 8. Model for them what the correct behavior is. And you may have to do this over, and over, and over months or years until he gets it.The targt for Omega's would actually 480mg DHA /720 EPA, not necessarily 1000mgs, probably a bit more than that. Age makes little difference. If the child has problems swallowing pills it is available in liquid form, but avoid artifically flavored liquids.
That seems to be the threshold for treating ADHD symptoms and behaviors.
What is his DX?
As a former preschool teacher, I would step back and look first at the phase of development. 4's are TOUGH! They are bossy, manipulative, and becoming more socially aware.
The old Louise Bates Ames series of books on each year are great for seeing just this. Her book on 4's is "Your 4 Year Old- Wild and Wonderful!"
I remember holding my beautiful third baby boy in my arms in the hospital and then realizing that I was in for yet another child that had to pass thru the 4 year old phase of life!

ommas39764.6765046296over how easily he is miffed with other kids. Constantly huffing, puffing, folding his arms, getting annoyed, turning away.
I don't understand him. Even children he is crazy about. If they say something, he takes it the wrong way, or if they touch him, he is annoyed.
How can I help him? He's missing sooo much.
Omega-3 1000 mg daily for mood, but I think we've already told you this.
