Is this even a word?
DD age 6 is on week 2 of ADHD meds. We are now on 7.5 of Focalin.
During her tball game this afternoon she was zeroed in...100% focased on the ball. Where ever that ball was she was all eyes on. She was so in the moment of the game it was almost freaky.
Usually she is playing with the dirt or looking at the sky ...totally lost in her thougths.
Is this what I can expect. It really was a bit freaky.
Also she was very emotional. Really happy or REALLY sad.
Thoughts please.
It may take her some time to get used to the med. Hyperfocus when channeled correctly can be a real advantage (meeting deadlines etc) or it can be a problem (focusing on the wrong things and missing what you should be doing). It is a issue with ADHD, not just the meds. She may just need to get used to her new clarity of thought.
Also the doc warned me that focalin can increase emotional lability and that too should wear off after she gets used to the meds. Just watch and keep track of the issues.
Thanks Vickie.
I appricate your thougths on this.
My daughter also gets quite hyperfocused. It is part of her ADHD, but in her case it is for sure worse on her stimulants. She can play webkins for 6 hours straight if I'd let her!
