New Here-Mom in TX | ADHD Information

Hi there, I'm Celeste and I have a 4 year old DD Kalynn (she'll be 5 in August).

About a month ago, she had a eval with a neuropsychologist. The neuropsych is pretty certain that she has ADHD but wants to defer the diagnosis til she is in school.

She also has Neurofibromatosis Type 1, and ADHD is very common in these children.

We live in the DFW, TX area.

Nice to meet everyone :)

Welcome to this helpful place and good luck on this journey.

Welcome, I have a friend who's son also has NF and ADHD.

Will they reevaluate her when she is 6? I have a 12 year old with ADHD, LD, anxiety. My 5 year old was evaluated this year just prior to turning 5 and we are reevaluating her at 6. I'm not sure she is ADHD, if so she is not like my 12 year old.

Hi and welcome... even though she isn't diagnosed officially with ADHD, I would try out some of the  things that other people on this board have tried.  I really think that with our ADHD children we must follow some routine in order for them to find success in there everyday life.  I can't imagine it would hurt.  I would think trying some of these suggestions would only help.

My suggestion would be to try play therapy as this is counseling for children.  My son has been going since he was 4 and he is now 5 1/2.  It has been a great experience for us.  I have received some strategies for working with him through his visits.   I'm big on play therapy.  (we started out going weekly, moved to bi-weekly, and now go monthly and our insurance helps)

p.s.  I'm in the DFW area too.  I think we are in the right place to get our children the help they deserve.
