My son couldn't handle adderall xr at all!!! He became aggitted, moody, angry, etc. I always use the psychotic to describe what I witnessed!
We stopped immediately and started concerta. Not everyone can handle the same meds.

My 6yr old son went from 30mg Ritalin LA which helped, but Dr wanted to see more, to Adderall XR 10mg. It was horrible. He was depressed, no smiling and mean and moody. Today I called and now we are going to try Metadate CD 30mg. I am hoping this one will do the trick. Ritalin was great except for insomnia, and still having some hyperfocusing and transition issues. His focusing and impulse control was greatly improved though. Any info/experiences on Metadate are appreciated. Wish us luck that this is THE one. Oh and I homeschool so I get to really see the full effects. The biggest issues we were having that brought us to meds was impulse/aggression issues that were greatly affecting his self esteem. He really wants to be a "good" boy! One time he said to me "I wish I could take a pill that help me behave" breaks my heart!good luck with the med change. adderal didn't work for my dd either, she became nasty and didn't sleep. now she is on ritalin la and doing well:)
