Adderall makes me sleepy and hungry | ADHD Information

My doc told me that the sign of your dose being too high was that I would feel sleepy.  I was on 20mg, went up to 30mg and was tired all the time. But even though I was tired, I didn't sleep much, which is probably the real reason I was tired.  Went back down to 20mg and feel fine.  I take the Adderall XR and added dextroamphetemine 10mg up to 3x a day if I need it.  I rarely feel I need it, unless my binge eating acts up.Ask if you can lower your dose.  Actually, I think your metabolism is faster as a kid so that's why you may have needed more than you need now.   Slaven I also get sleepy and hungry when I take my Adderall.  I have asked my doctor about it, and he doesn't know why it happens.  The same thing happens when I drink coffee.  Have your thyroid checked, I know you're only 20, but I'm just 19.  Mine came back normal, and slightly overactive once.  Not enough to be medicated, but I'm just self medicating with selenium and zinc which seems to help.  I'm just glad the semester is over, and today I had my last final.  Now I get to enjoy 3 weeks without adderall.  I think it's great for school, but the zombie effect is certainly not someone I want to be around my friends.  I also hate the way food tastes on the medication, the headaches, cramps, or the lump I get in my throat from time to time.Johnnyboi39212.8808564815I have been taking adderall for 6 years, i stoped for 9 months and started again but this time instead of it stimulating me and helping me concetrate and make me feel awake I feel really tired and so hungry I have gained 25 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks. It also makes my sex drive go up instead of down like it did when i was younger. I was 18 about to be 19 when i stoped and now im 20 about to be 21 I wonder if my body went from a kids body to an adult and 30mg a day prob isnt enough anymore. Can anyone relate to this? My doctor doesnt know whats wrong and is trying different things like i take 2 30mg adderalls to sleep and i never had a better sleep than that. Is it the same kind of adderal you had before or a different scrip?

Sometimes our bodies change. Then, you were still growing and now you have the body of an adult.

Check with your doc--it might not be the best choice for you at this point.
Thx alot for the replys, i also get really tired on coffee and just like your doctor he doesnt know whats wrong. I am gonna try zinc and selenium and see if that helps. I never get headaches or cramps but sometime i do get the lump you are talking about. Im really happy I have no side effects from adderall like i used to when i was younger now all it does it helps me concetrate and it calms me down glad the side effects are completly gone.
