help! trouble findng a dr | ADHD Information

We have found a psychotheripast for our soon to be 6yr old. We have had him evaluated at school and he shows the signs of ADHD. But we cannot find a dr to do teh "medical" evaluation in southern NJ. Either they don't take our insurance, have no openings for at least seven months or do not treat children who are 6yr old. Help! I am so frustrated and going in circles. Have any of you had this problem or know of any drs in south jersey?  THanks!Call you local CHADD chapter. These evaluations are often not covered by insurance, BTW.Ask your pediatrician for a referal, or call your local Children's Hospital. Schools cannot test for ADHD btw, and like notellin said, insurance does not always cover evaluations.Do you have a university  or teaching hospital anywhere near you?  Or try calling your county health dept.

I can't add anything except to give you a big hug (((Hug)))and tell you that I know exactly what you are going through.

We are having the same problems finding a new therapist.  We even changed our insurance to a much more expensive plan because most Drs. in my state take it.

Keep searching and don't give up.
