Kids are Weird--humour, not pc | ADHD Information
Okay I see a lot of sad,
worried moms out there. I am not trying to trivialize your pain because it is
REAL but I think, when we're in the middle of the mess we lose perspective. And
I suspect a few "politically correct" folks might be upset by this
but I think we all need the laugh right now:
Frankly, stop reading Dr. Spock and start reading Erma Bombeck
Chances are 400,000,000 to 1
that you are NOT raising the kid to be Hannibal Lector. If you are being a decent
parent 80% of the time you are doing better than average. There are no
perfect parents and no perfect kids. You have to live with them and they with
you. Forgive us our daily tresspasses and hand over the daytimer.Only 1% of the population
shows signs of psychopathology. And it comes from the FATHER, not you.
Unless your kid has bbq'ed the cat recently and arsoned the neighbour's
garbage cans, it is highly unlikely that your loveable ball of energy and
useless soccer trivia motormouth--is one of them. There is no perfect method of
discipline. Just ask any army!Kids are weird. They do
strange unfathomable things like: put pennies on train tracks, have an
overwhelming attraction to construction sites, pee on their own
shoestrings, kiss dogs on the lips and any other number of things that an
adult would be committed for.If you ask them
"why" they will shrug. They don't want to tell you,
"Because it seemed like a good idea at the time." Save yourself
the grief. Don't ask.Sometimes you will lose your
temper. You are not Robomom. Your programming, in computer terms, is
faulty. Good thing too--or there wouldn't be anyone left on the planet.
All you can do is love the kid [and you all seem to do that
a great deal], do the best you can and realize that you have a 99% chance of
raising a kid who will be an adult that you would want to invite to a dinner
party.
That was great! I loved it!

Thanks for the Mother's Day gift. Laughter is the best sort....It always fits, I don't have to find a place on the shelf to store (and dust it!) and it lightens our load.
Happy Mother's Day to you and all the other Mom's here who go above and beyond for their kids.

Black holes? Is THAT where my daytimer went?

Most of us are charmingly eccentric--except for the poor people who get stuck living with us
Excuse my distraction--I'm working on the mathematics of string theory.
It is my fervent belief that if I can find those strings they will be attached to all the stuff ADHD'ers lose...
