Hi, I just wanted to intorduce myself. I'm a mother to a 5 year old (he'll be 6 in December) little boy who was just diagnosed with ADHD. We started taking Concerta. His teaher has seen improvement, but I think we will need to up the dose just a bit. He's still a little impulsive.
I'm not sure how to really tell what he's suppose to be like while on this stuff. The things I've noticed is his mood has changed a bit. He's more "fresh" mouthed and whiny. I'm guessing this is what happens when the stuff starts to wear off???
Open to any advice or suggestions for parenting an ADHD child.
Hi... I have my son who is 7 on Concerta... he has taken it now for 6 mths.. I have seen an improvement.. it stops and thinks .. he will sit and listen but the school is sayign they have not seen a big improvement.... and he goes in and out of good periods of been absolutely amazing to fidgety and hostile at time.
I am wondering about uping his dose, but I really am not liking him on this medication, it has some harmful components in and am trying to deal with this naturally. You son is still young.. stick it out.... maybe try a natural supplement.. I am using Efamol or Efalex it has a good dosage of the amino acids in it that help the neurons in the brain fire.... also primrose oil which is a wonder supplement. One thing i am findign with my son, he is having troubles sleeping... I am trying him out with magnesium right now... it is supposed to be to be a natural relaxant and often ADD kids are lackign in this...
