tricyclic antidEpressant | ADHD Information

Well wish us luck! Finally after months of agonizing over the decision to drop the stimulants (again), we are doing it. School will probably hate me doing this at the end of the year, but hey...............Starting tonight we are going back to the tricyclic antidpressant. We did this for well over a year with some luck using Nortriptyline, switched back (foolishly) to Ritlain this year and have battled side effects all year. The Nortriptyline made her sleepy. Trying Desipramine (? spelling) now, supposedly doesnt have the sleepy side effect.  Keeping the Tenex too for now.................I'm hoping to get to one med if possible. She is SO not good right now. Thin, tics, pale, just wants to sit on the computer all day, so disorganized and forgetful...............

I remember when Chase was so thin--he still is tiny, but has put on about 9 pounds since November, so he doesn't look quite so anorexic. He had dark circles under his eyes, and just didn't look good at all.

Once we added the guanfacine and switched to ritalin LA, he now has color in his cheeks again..

I hope that this switch does the trick for your daughter!me too, thanks. We are coming off Ritalin LA and Guanfacine. It's those tics! Unfortunatley we have to deal with anxiety on top of her ADHD.

I also hope this works for your daughter.
