Every summer my husband and I face the same challenge, what to do with our teenage son during the summer break. In the past we would enroll him at a local camp that was very diversified and had many day trips and some overnight trips. But once he turned 14, the camp was too expensive for him to go. (this age group does more overnight trips for longer periods of time) We both work full time and are out of the house from 7:30am till about 6pm- so him staying home alone is out of the question. (He is ADHD/ODD (oppositional defiance disorder) and cannot be left without some sort of supervision all day. He is not interested in getting a job or working with his father or grandfather (both electricans). he is not interested in joining a local summer sport programs or working at his old summer camp as a councilor.
