Strattera making me tired? | ADHD Information

It is more common when there is no ramp, adults like kids need to ramp Strat.

I am glad to know there can be soo much dose adjusting for Strattera... I have Fibromyalgia too, so of course I am 'walking dead' exhausted all the time.  I don't see improvement at all with Strat so far, but I don't take it at the same time every day or same dose, so I think I need to pay more 'attention' to that detail and try a bit higher dose!  Just 25-50 mg am and another 25 if I remember in afternoon.  Doc says okay for me to try dif doses, but I didn't realize individuals can need such different amounts to work.

Well i'm 19/m/ weigh 180 and recently started taking Strattera..I started out at 25mg 2x a day for 3 days and then was upped to 40mg 2x a day..almost immediately after taking it i've noticed huge improvements in my patience, concentration, irritability, and even anxiety...so overall i'm very happy with it (even though i'm only on my fourth day (so first day taking 40mg 2x a day)..but, i've noticed myself being EXTREMELY tired almost all the time...i've gotten atleast 10 hours of sleep the last two nights and yet i'm still exhausted almost the entire day...i'm wondering if this is typical for people starting out on the medication, or typical while increasing dosage..and it will all subside..?

It's hard for me to tell what exactly is making me tired right now because i've had a lot of changes lately, i've switched to a new workout routine that is extremely demanding on my body..I recently wore a motionsickness patch..as well as started on Strattera...

any advice or input would be greatly appreciated

That is a very common side effect of Strattera. It is also very common to happen when you change the dosage as well. I'm glad it's working well for you, it didn't help me. It takes 6-12 weeks once the target dose is reached to gain the full benefits of it.

Well I'm on day 6 of taking Strattera now..my third day of taking the 40mg 2x a day and I notice the tiredness subsiding a little bit, but today and yesterday i've noticed myself feeling extremely weak and almost lightheaded in the morning for a few hours after taking the pill...Don't get me wrong the tiredness hasn't gone away fully, I still feel quite exhausted later in the day (much more so than I used to before taking Strattera) but it's not an all day thing like it was at first...

I'm just going to ride it out of course, but I hope this weakness isn't a long term thing..I just feel like collapsing until the afternoon...

Anyone else have this when they started taking it?

Oh my yes. I wasn't tired ALL the time on Strattera... when I was taking 60mgs it would wear off around 5pm and once it did I was pretty much useless.. almost lethargic in a sense. Then the Dr upped it to 80mgs I only took mine once a day though. Once I got to that dose, the initial tiredness did go away after about a week at that time. Then it made it have the opposite effect.. I had insomnia from it!  I wish you the best of luck!  It made me tired for the 1st week taking it...after that I didn't notice it anymore.

Also, are you sure you need 10+ hours of sleep?  I know that if I get more than 8, that in itself makes me tired...
I took a motion sickness pill on a cruise last year. I literally slept for whole day. It was terrible. No nausea, but boy I could not wake up. I am sure that did not help.
