cherrie,
Does you daughter have an auditory processing disorder? I am asking because she is in speech therapy and having problems with reading and math. It is imprortant for you to keep fighting for her and for you to find a dr that is familiar with ADHD. I'll send the hat and broom!!! I may ride the broom over and help, maybe all of us should come with our hats and brooms!

I always say, "thank goodness for these boards, they are my salvation some days!!"
Can the schools help you with any evaluations through them? Could they also help with finding a specialist due to the language situation? I feel so bad for you and your daughter. I am so glad that the school is being helpful, that is a good thing!!
I would definetly find another doctor for an evaluation, as well as another opinion. And if concerta is best for her, tell the doctors that you are seeing in June. Why can't they still help her and prescribe concerta? Every one is different when it comes to ALL medications, as doctors they should know that best!!
Always go with your gut instincts, they are usually right.
Is there any way can get an interpreter to go with you to these appointments? There are interpreters who specialize in medical care.

[/QUOTE] im sorry i dont know what that is (interpreter)can u inform me ill check back later i just got a phone call got to get to the school
some one who can interpret what the doctor is telling you from French to English. Some one who is trained to interpet. I work for a hospital and we have a whole interpreter services department. They help interpret the doctors and differnet deparmtents instruction to patients in their language. I am just thinkin gthey could help make it clearer to you and make your points clearer to the doctor if you could hear and and explain to them in english.I am glad you are going in June, it sounds like she does have co-existing conditions so you do need to be sure the proper people are helping you make your decisions. Good for you for trying to bring as much knowledge with you to these meetings. It is difficult to sort it all out.

Sounds like this neuro needs to go back to school and do some research about ADHD and other behavioral problems! Find another specialist and leave this one in the DUST! I'll lend you my witches hat and broom!
Jorgy
who diagnosed her? If she had a neuropsych eval it would sort out if there was an attention disorder and/or a learning disorder. My daughter has both and both have different was to address them.
