Daughter going from Adderall to Daytrana? | ADHD Information

Can you mix the riserdol? I dont know this med, but sometimes you can add liquid meds to things, like pudding, ice cream....etc., etc.

Tian Marie, good luck! I'd love to know how you make out.

You ladies are too sweet. I just put the first patch on this morning at 6:30 am, since I read it can take a couple of hours to kick in and she has school at 8:30. It was so easy to get off the backing, I wonder if they havent upped their product since they first came out with it. I was nervous about that from what I had read, it was split down the middle already, I simply bent it in half and it started to come up. I worry it wont stay on, so I hope it does.

I will let you all know how it goes. Thanks so much again!

Hi all, I am new here. My daughter is almost 8 yrs old and has been on Adderall XR 15 mg for 4 months for ADHD. She has had some serious social anxiety, anger issues, talking back (more than usual), cranky, negative and just overall hard to be around since being on it. She will not swallow a pill, so our pedi got us a script for Daytrana, also 15 mg. She starts that tomorrow.

I am so worried about the switch but eager to get my daughter back after these nightmare months of anger we have dealt with on the Adderall. She does have some picking issues so I am thinking the hip will not work for placement, and I have also heard it is hard to remove the backing. And, what time should I apply? Can anyone direct me to where I can read more about this or give us advice. Thanks so much.

Apply patch in the AM when she gets up and if she picks, put it on her back out of reach. The picking may be a tic from the Adderall. My son had serious problems with rebound anger, moodiness and picking at his skin until he bled when first on Adderall. We tried other meds but nothing helped his focusing as well as the Adderall so we put him back on it and added Welbutrin. He has had no anger issues and no tics since then. Good luck!

My daughter also had skin picking issues as a tic from Concerta and Ritalin. We never tried Daytrana and may not as she also had tics from Focalin. Keep an eye on that. Many, many people have success with Daytrana and if you put it on his back between his shoulder blades he wont be able to get at it. Good luck, keep us updated!Thank you all so much! I will let you know how it goes, tomorrow will be her first day.

We had planned on waiting until the summer to switch her meds but it has gotten so bad, she freaks out in groups of more than 2 people and starts to pick her skin and claw her face up from nerves, she also throws these huge fits all the time and gets very anti-social (tells people to get away from her, leave her alone, etc) and just always seemed angry on the Adderall. So I am crossing my fingers the Daytrana works.

my son was in the same situation, he couldnt take the adderall, not even when you hid it in pudding icecream, nothing worked.  We put him on daytrana and he says this is the only med i will take.  He never complains about putting it on.  In the begginning It was hard to get off and would make a red mark.  But now my son is used to it pulls it of himself without complaint just remeber to switch sides of hip.  I plan to take him off daytrana for the summer and we just got a script for risperdol, which he isnt happy about. but I think he doesnt need that intense focus over the summer and he is very skinny.  He doesn't eat when he is on daytrana.  only early morning and night.  I am getting the liquid riserdol I am wondering how it tastes, my son is so sensitive to this stuff.
