Trouble Waking Up On Ritalin | ADHD Information

My son has alot of trouble getting to sleep and if I let him sleep in he would sleep until 11am in the morning.  When we wake him to get up for school he is in a dead sleep.  We give him medication and he goes back to sleep and then naturally wakes after 40 minutes.  He gets very tired though and we have found he need to catch up on his sleep on the weekend.

Our 16 year old daughter has just gone from concerta to quick release ritalin and is finding getting to sleep alot easlier.  Her last dose of meds is at 4pm so when she is wanting to go to sleep the meds are well and truly wearing off.

I'm not on regular Ritalin.. but Focalin XR is in the Ritalin family. I do have a terrible time waking up in the mornings... BUT- I've ALWAYS been that way, so it's not a change for me, it just hasn't gotten any better.

I have heard some people say that they'll set the alarm for 30mins-to an hour ahead of when they need to get up (depending on how long the meds take to kick in for you). I thought about trying this myself, but the Focalin XR only lasts me 4 hours as it is so it's not really worth it for me to do. I'm thinking about asking for Concerta I'm just afraid of the irritability I hear so many people getting from it. I have a problem with that w/o meds as it is.
Hey everyone,
Has anyone else experienced trouble waking up in the morning? I have always been able to get up with the alarm, but since I started ritalin, it is very hard for me to get up. Once the meds wear off at night I crash and then cant get up in the morning!
