yes the main purpose is for it to last longer and also to be released throughout the day. It is supposed to be smoother. Although it is the same med people react differently to different delivery methods you really wont know until you try it. The advantage to stimulant meds it if you hate it, you can stop it right away.

This may have been asked and answered before but I'm just going to do it again anyways!
I was on just regular Adderall 10 mgs, now my doctor put m on Adderall XR 20mgs. Can someone please tell me the differernce between the XR and non XR?
I know obviously it is a "extended release" or whatever, so does that just mean it last longer? I already have trouble sleeping at night on the regular Adderall. Does this mean it is going to effect me more at night?
Has is been known to help with the extended release? Does it work better?
Any information or replys are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Sleep was impossible for me on Adderall XR 20mg. On regular adderall it was doable most of the time. I expected the XR to work like the regular, but just all day. Turns out, it works completely different. It slowed me down to where I felt like I was in slow motion, so I went back to regular. XR also gave me horrible anxiety. XR seems to treat hyperactivity, whereas regular treats attention more from my experience.

I like the IR a lot more
