My dr was arrested!!!!!!!! | ADHD Information

well, I wont judge this man except to say that as a medical professional myself in the ER, I DO hold myself to a higher standard as I DO hold those I work with.  It was a public rest room, not a private "family" one and he had been caught by police.  The office has since called me to tell me that my ds was being passed to a nurse practicioner for medication management.  I told them NO WAY!!!!!!!

Good for you telling them no, change pracitces if you have to. I would want a physician managing my child's meds also.

ok you guys. As I am sure most of you remember, my dr retired and we got a new dr who changed all of my sons meds around and made us miserable. I could never get a call back from him etc.  I finally took him to my regular pediatrician and threatened to remove him from their group if he didnt take over, he did.

A few days later, I got a call from my sons developmental pediatrician office to say my June appt was cancelled.  I was not shocked.  Well, the Arpril one was cancelled and pushed to May.  Then May was cancelled and pushed to June.  Now that one was being cancelled also.  I was informed at that time that it was being cancelled as my dr was no longer employed by the Greenville hospital system.  I asked why and was told that he was arrested.

I immediatelty got on the wyff tv website ( www.wyff.com) and typed in the name of my sons dr, Dr. Marti.  There he was in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs.  He was arrested in an undercover sting operation in a bathroom at the Atlanta airport where he was fondling himself and soliciting sex from men there.

What do you think of THAT!!!!!!

A full grown male Doctor who "tricks" in a washroom with other gays poses no threat to his patients. Sounds like homophobia in the police policy, to me.
well, the hospital syatem is stating that he was terminated for missing 2 consecutive work shifts.  This was, of course, while he was in custody.Sounds like you would need to find a new Dr. to me.

I agree. New doctor for sure. Like things are complicated ENOUGH.

Do they have some one else in the practice for you to see?

Definitely need to find someone more reliable among many other things. My goodness.  Find a new Dr. immediately.  Life is so unpredictible.I dont think I will be taking him back there anyway since his regular dr stated he will take over.Maybe it does not pose a direct threat to patients, but as a medical professional, he should conduct himself in such a manner, not participating in illegal and immoral activities.  Better luck to you... It sucks we have to trust the health of our children to someone who may not be more stable then the kids are!  Quite frankly, I live in a neighbourhood with a large amount of sex trade workers. The amount of "professionals" including doctors and lawyers that tour this neighbourhood in beemers and jags on a Friday night can't even be concieved. Rarely are THEY arrested.

The only difference was that this doc was in a washroom instead of an alley with another male.

And all of them go about their daily professional business with no one the wiser.

I agree that it's their choice to be immoral and to do what they will. However, I don't agree with them doing it in a washroom where my 12 year old or 6 year old son could walk into and find these 'grown men' in such a manner.   Do it on your own time and in your own personal doors.  As parents, we try to choose the right hands to put them in, especially when it comes to their medical situations.  I completely understand her questioning his ability as a doctor.  However, this is just MY opinion.I once had a job counseling men who had struggles with sexual addiction. Many of them frequented highway rest areas, mall restrooms, and public & private parks. It amazed me that many of these men were ministers, lawyers, medical professionals, and teachers. One man was an elemetray school principal! Another man was a minister at a very large church with over 10,000 members! They were all very good at their professions, but at night they changed into another person. They did this because they were stressed, felt unappreciated, unrewarded, and were utterly lonely. They would go into a restroom, sit on a commode, and wait for another man to sit in the stall next to theirs. Then they would tap their foot on the floor. (That was a code.) If the man next to them would also start tapping their foot, it was sign they wanted to have an "encounter".

Each man I counseled was advised to tell others about their secret addiction, to be open and honest with their families. But each man was afraid and decided to keep it a secret...until they each were caught, usually by the police. For each man, when they were caught, they lost their professions, were subjected to public digrace, and moved away. From time to time I hear from these men and each say that getting caught helped save their lives...that being caught put them on the road to recovery. From what they tell me, each man I counseled has stopped frequenting restrooms for sex.

My heart goes out the men who battle such sexual addictions. But I'm also aware that there are very dangerous men who don't think frequenting restrooms is a problem that needs to be addressed in their lives. It is because of this knowledge that I refuse to allow my son to enter public restrooms by himself. I ALWAYS go in with him. My wife always uses the "family restrooms" at the mall. I may be over-protective in these places, but I'd rather be safe then sorry.

You said that perfectly. I know it would be shocking, but people are human with human problems. I feel sorry for the doctor. Obviously there is an addiction involved if he finds it "OK" to do this in a public restroom. I'm quite surprised by all the judgement in this thread. Especially since we as the parents of ADHD kids are judged continually for being 'bad' parents.I wouldn't assume it's a "sexual addiction". The issue with gay men in small towns is that the places they meet for 'dating' are very limited and so word passes around about where they can go--then the police raid those areas.

Since I do not know the area this man is from, I can't assume it wasn't one of the few 'tricking' spots available in his particular area.

In a large city there are bars, bathhouses etc. In small towns there are few outlets.

This must be taken into consideration as well.

And I agree with the above. Much of the hysteria is sheer bigotry as well as misunderstanding how the gay community actually operates.
There are still times and places things are appopriate and public is not appopriate. Gay, straight, whatever you are people should consider others. Public restrooms are just that PUBLIC. I'm sorry I cant agree this is ok in a public place. The majority of people manage to not conduct their sexual lives in public. People have to be responsible for their actions.
