Is this "Rebounding" | ADHD Information

My son takes 15 mg of Focailin XR everyday. We have palyed around with the dose alot over the last 2 years and this dose works really well, with no side     effects.  The Dr. has offered us a low dose of short acting for nights but I don't give it to him because of the decrease in appetite. We only give it to him if we have to be some where in the evenings (ie. tball games, etc).  He has always been quite active when coming off the meds.

But here in the last month or so, he has been very defiant, screams and runs through the house, and will throw a fit if things don't go his way. These are things he only does when he is not on meds. Also he has started peeing on the floor, and tearing stuff up, when you ask him why he did these things it is either "I'm sorry, I forgot" or "because I did" ... it is like he just can not control his behavior. Is this "rebounding" from the meds???

Also I was wondering if his night time bed wetting had anything to do with the ADHD? When he wets the bed he won't even wake up he just sleeps in it, he is not even aware that he has done it. So I do put him in pull ups at night, but my husband says that is just making it easier for him. I do not want to punish Logan for something he has no control over, so I am really at a loss of what to do!!!

I am not sue if the bedwetting is related to his ADHD or not, but keeping him dry with pullups is reasonable. He can't help the bedwetting.

It sounds like he needs a med adjustment if these rebound symptoms are new. A lot of people use Guanfacine in combination with their stimulant to lessens the ffects of rebound. We use it, but not for rebound, we used it to help alleviate the issue my daughter had with tics while on stimulants. It might be worth looking at.

It doesnt sound like you really want to change meds altogether is he is doing well, not does it sound like he needs an increase.

I would discuss all of this with his doctor.
