My 12 yr old son has been on on Ability for about 3 months now. The doctor started him out at 2 mgs and now he takes 5 mgs, along with a 30 mg Daytrana patch, and 2 mgs of Clonidine at night. This combination was worked wonders for my son. He has been almost like different kid. The numerous outbursts have stopped and he is no longer defiant like he had been for years.
I was just curious of anyone's child takes this medication and if so, what has or hasn't it done for your child.
Thanks,
Tammy
Gosh, I am sorry to hear that it affected you that way. What dosage were you on?
So far, my son has had no side effects and it has worked wonders. The doc said my son is not bipolar (I am bipolar II) but definitely has a mood disorder. It is my understanding that it is not prescribed much for children under 18 but I let him try it because we were having so much trouble. I keep a very close watch on him and ask him daily how he is feeling. I believe the Daytrana patch has helped him tremedously also.
Myself, I am now taking Cymbalta, Lexapro and Geodon. The Geodon is suppose to help me sleep but does not, so I am taking ambien to sleep. The doc had me on Seroquel and I slept like a baby but I also gained 65lbs which I am having a very hard to time getring off of. I went from 130 to 195 in 2 years. I am thinking about asking him to put me back on Topomax because of my weight gain. I liked the Topamax but it effected my memory. He has also suggested that after a couple of more visits, he may put me on adderral because he thinks I have ADD along witih Biploar II.
I hope that you are doing well now. Please respond or email me and let me know how you are. I am also interested in what medications you are taking and that you have been diagnosed with.
Thanks for your response, hope to hear from you soon.
