Do meds stop working after a while? | ADHD Information

I agree, call the doctor. I would ask for an increase since it has been working so well. We have even increased daily until we found the right dose.

Once we found the right dose, life was good again! 

this is all so hard to judge...i know that i too am questioning the dosage that my dd is on since she is home more with me now in the summer.  it's truly hard to sometimes know what is "normal" kid behavior vs adhd kid behavior...especially since it's your first child.

First off, these message boards are wonderful! It is so awesome to have a support group with people who are actually going through what I am going through.

My son is 7, diagnosed with ADHD, on Metadate CD. We started of with 10 for about a week. That didnt do anything. Then we started giving him 20. That worked great...execpt I dont think its working too good anymore. He hasnt been able to finish his work on time in school anymore. He used to be able to finish it by lunch time. Its been like this for 4 days in a row now. Has anyone experienced the medicine not working anymore after its been working fine?

P.S. He has been on the 20 mg for 1 month.yes this happen frequently once the body adjusts.

We went through this a lot when we first started on Focalin XR - it would work for a few weeks, then suddenly wouldn't work anymore.  We were told that until you are at the right dose, it will work for a short time then will be less effective.

BTW - my 5 1/2 year old is on 40mg of Metadate CD.

I would call your dr and let them know your observations.
