Daytrana not working anymore? | ADHD Information

Hey everyone. I am concerned that my dd's Daytrana (15 mg patches) is no longer working. She has been very wild the past couple of days and not for lack of stimulation, we were out and about all weekend doing activities. She hasnt even been on it a month so I am feeling pretty down about it! When we first started it I thought it was wonderful b/c it seemed to work well. When we take the patch off at night she is just so wild. Last night she was dripping sweat b/c she was all over the place and got herself all worked up and it was hot in the house. She just seemed like she could not calm down.

We are thinking of switching again. Its so frustrating because I was hoping we were done doing the medication dance but I should have known. I have heard about Ritalin that you can chew. She will not take a pill which is our biggest issue. Anyone know anything about either of these issues? TIA.

It sounds like a med adjustment is needed. At sub-optimal doses, the body adjusts, the med can quit working. This is expected until the med is at the true effective dose. At that time ajdustments should be less frequent, but may occur.
