That's not drug addiction, it's prescription dependence.
I felt the same way when I started taking Adderall 6-7 months ago. Euphoric at first, could read for 3 hours straight, without stop.
Liked the drug, but it worked for only short periods of time. Changed to Adderall XR. XR is not as strong as IR, but it works a lot longer.
I have the same feelings. But now I'm starting to become anxious and nervous on the pills, which isn't bad.
But I can't say that the drug is bad at all. I am almost positive I suffer from some sort of ADHD/narcolepsy combination. Although I've only been diagnosed with ADD.
Adderall is truly a wonder drug. Though it has its problems, and I am a bit afraid of the long term consequences on my health. I simply can't get through the day without it.
Before I took adderall, I could sleep 10 hours a night, and spend the whole day unable to concentrate, and I would fall asleep the second I laid down in bed, be it 2 in the afternoon or 10 at night.
Now I can get through the whole day.
As far as anything else goes, I know modafinil exists, and it is used for those with ADHD as well as narcolepsy.
But lastly, the euphoria doesn't last forever. I may be the effexor doing that. But Adderall comes with a crash eventually.

I don't think you are a drug addict at all! Please ignore the ignorance and jealousy on the boards here. You are finally feeling like a person should feel, and you have every right to feel so good inside. It's about time. After feeling like crap your entire life, it's your time to shine. It's a wonder drug for sure. I understand what you are saying. It's not that you are a drug addict, it's that you are just so damn excited to feel alive for once in your life. I have felt the same way on adderall. I finally got out of my own prison, I finally was able to live like a normal happy person, but much happier than most because we have been in the deepest darkest dungeons for son long, that our happiness is a bit overwhelming at times. I got taken off of adderall for drinking alcohol at night before bedtime. I am not drinking now, but they will not put me back on it. So I just started Straterra today. Not happy about it, but hell it's better than nothing right. Good luck to you.

I didn't... but my girlfriend mentioned it the other night when I was all hopped up and ready for love. She said, "not tonight dear... I still have a severe rash from the last time". Then she suggested I buy a new razor. I'm just trying to figgure out if the meds increased my drive, or lack of sex makes me want it more.

Still I can take a nap an hour after taking 15 mg xr, and the dose only lasts about 3 hours, perhaps the dose needs some tweaking
You brought it up, and I wondered...... I must say it has increased my sex drive, or was it stopping the antidepressants? not sure

I was speaking of the hair on my head growing faster, my hair stylist noticed it too. Skin was breaking out too, but that has calmed down. Another special treat for us gifted folks, most ADHD people have issues with overly sensitive skin.
the sex drive increased for sure, wasn't expecting that but adds some fun to the equation, didn't see that mentioned anywhere here on the boards
Adderall WAS the wonder drug for me but now after a year and a half the effects have tended to wear off.. I take the xr in the morning and it it out of my system in 4-6 hours and when it is in it does not give me the same effects as it used too.. When I first started takeing it I felt like superman. I could do anything achieve anything and have evergy to spare but no so any more... I take the 20 mg version and have tried the 25mg with out much luck.. I have found that If I take one in the morning at around 7 it is out of my sys by noon.. so sometimes I take a booster and that will last till around 4-6 pm.. I need somthing that lasts 12 hours pluss so I am going to look into Vyvanse it looks like to ticket for me... good luck to u and hope all works well 4 u
