Taping Patches? | ADHD Information
For swimming I use band aid brand tough strips. They work GREAT and they don't seem to irritate his skin. I've been using them regularly lately, this new box of patches I got is bad and getting the backing off is nearly impossible and they just don't stay on. Hopefully the next box will be better and we'll go back to the band aids only for swimming. Oh, I just put them on in an X over the patch, so hardly any of the tape part of the band aid is over the patch, mostly just the pad part. It stays put without fail all day, even after hours in the water. Hi LiveandLove,
We've had a fwe boxes of patches that were impossible and I called Shire
and their customer relations dept helped me to facilitate new boxes with
their trial cards. It's been hit or miss with the boxes, but i find that the
boxes of 15mg are more consistant than the 20mg boxes that we stasrted
off with that were ALWAYS a problem. Call Shire AND check out some of the
other Daytrana threads that discuss this very problem.
In the meantime, thanks for another reccommendation of bandaids that
work. Cheers.
This is my first post ... so forgive me if I do anything wrong.
My 12 yo daughter started on 10mg patches ... nothing. We went to 15mg and she is a completely new kid.
In the beginning we had some patches come off/curl up. She became obsessed with the condition of her patch. IShe was so distracted that the school nurse put tape on it.
I know the documentation says don't tape it and I know that the Dr told us no one else they knew of was taping the patch .... BUT we see NO DIFFERENCE in how the medication is working.
We have been taping for 4 weeks. Use 2 inch paper tape.
Today is her first day swimming. I couldn't find 2 in waterproof tape so we used 2 strips of 1 in waterproof tape side by side. My concern is that the waterproof tape is very thick and may irritate her skin. A friend suggested buying large waterproof bandaids/bandages.
Is anyone else besides me taping the patch???
I've been using the Walgreens Brand SHEER XL bangages. The box I've got
came in a package of 12 with two extra bandages as a bonus. So a box of
14. They never move in the chlorine water or in the shower until we peel
them off and the patch is perfect underneath. Please let me know if they
work for you.We also use the 15 mg patch and since the summer has started, I put an XL
waterproof bandaid right over the patch to keep it from curling or coming
off in the pool/at camp etc...With this size bandaidm the gauze goes right
over the patch and the adhesive creates a protective seal around it. I have
seen no difference in it's effectiveness. So far, so good.
What size band aid? And what company makes them? ANy info would be helpful.
