Hi,
I'm now taking 5 mg of Methylphenidate 4X per day. I know this is a very low dosage amount for an adult but not only am I hyperactive, I'm hypersensitive to meds - like they are amplified - does that make sense?
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone else gets drowsy while taking this particular med? I've noticed I get really relaxed and sleepy about 1 hour after I take it. It's not bothersome, I was just wondering if that is a common side effect.

I was on Ritalin for 2 months. I was taking 70 mg a day. I started at 30 mg. Then my doc increased it as I was not having the response he wanted to see. Like you, I would also get tired and daydreamed about naps. Now I am on Adderall IR 40 mg and it is my wonder drug. Accomplishing tasks at hand...left and right.
Stims are dosed by symptoms, not age or weight. It is common to get drowsy, I know my kid does.are they really dosed by symptoms? when i started taking meds, i was told very different things about that and i still can't really get it straight. If they are dosed by symptoms, I must have ADD bad (inattentive) because even on 36 mg concerta i didn't notice a drastic change. (I am just now starting to take it again so I am back to 27 mg. with slight improvement) my doc skipped over the 18 mg dose because he said it is the equivalent of 5 mg. IR ritalin, which had previously done nothing for me.
