Hmmm hi joshsmom! I probably read your last post, but I sometimes forget the details, sorry!! If the 5mg seemed to be wearing off really quickly, then, typically, the dose does need to be increased. Hopefully the higher dose will work longer. Another option is to try an extended release formula (Concerta, or Adderall XR.) These will have longer-lasting effects. However, it is true that meds don't make everything perfect. I take adderall xr and adderall quick-release....they help a lot, however I am still extremely ADHD! It takes a lot of self discipline, which is really hard, but a lot of the "kinks" can be worked out. Hopefully the 10mgs will work better, and like I said, perhaps a longer acting med would be another option. Good luck and keep us posted!
Well my childs psychiatrist, things the long lasting meds are great for some kids. They dont have that BANG to start and that WANG when they come off - it is all more gradual (excuse the descriptive words)i just wonder how long the 10 mg will last before it does'nt work.i would love for him to have tried the longer lasting meds but it seems like the dr does'nt think thats important,i think if he had a longer lasting med he could do his homework plus home would be a little less stressed.it seems like he was clamer when he first started on ritalin he even gained a lb but since the ritalin stopped working he still eats but he has lost 1/2 lb.so hopefully 10 mg will work but do people on meds have a good week and then a bad week?
