have seen ads for the Easy child software and the Stressfree ADHD. THey both look good but very expensive! Has anyone tried either one? I'd love to hear your tips and feeback on these or any other programs. Thanks! My son is 6 and is newly diagnosed with ADHD.

Be cautious about these programs. Someone is selling something. Over the years I have seen these programs come and go. I am not aware of any of them showing long term effectiveness in the literature. This does not mean they do not work and especially it does they are not successful on some children. It just means be cautious. On the other hand, if you have the money to spend they normally do not cause any harm.

The most effective thing a parent can do with an ADHD child is behavior management. Check out the Chadd and help4adhd site. There are some inexpensive behavior management programs available that are quite effective. Keep in mind that there is no magic cure for ADHD. It is a chronic condition that must be managed. It is our job to help our children learn how to do this. Good luck, .

we did easy child for awhile...i have to say that we started it right after we started meds on my dd.  we did it for both children.  they enjoyed the points because we combined them with money:)  i did find it a bit hard to keep on top of-even with 2 kids.  my non adhd child LOVED being reinforced for his normal behavior:) :) :)  my dd did too...just in a different way.  our house just became a bit in turmoil when my dd was on adderal and not sleeping so i felt desperate to try anything last winter.  our mornings were horrible with no sleep and our morning routine was a big part of our easy child charting.  now, my dd is on ritalin LA and things have improved:)  we probably will start it again in fall...it's a great way to keep track of packing backpack, their nightly required reading willingly, etc.

i truly would recommend easy child.  it turned many negative things into positives here:)
