Judge "flatness" side effect after 1 day? | ADHD Information

We will be trying a new stimulant b/c Focalin XR is too uneven for my child.  He's too subdued for a couple of hours in the morning.  Also, he's been having a lot of anxiety issues, and maybe a meds switch will help w/ this.  Now that he can swallow pills, I'm wondering if Concerta would be a good option for him.  I'd like something with long coverage.  This isn't necessary, but it would be nice if it was easy for other people to give to him (opening capsules and sprinkling the contents seems to intimidate people).  Anyway, we tried Concerta last summer, but he was able to get the pill down only one day and that's why we stopped it.  For that one day, he seemed too subdued.  Is that likely to go away after a couple of weeks, or is even one day a good indicator that this side effect is likely to stay?

My first week or two on Adderall caused me, according to my wife, to be subdued.  But not since...

My ds was "subdued" the first couple of days that he took Focalin XR and then came out of that. He took it for 3 months but it stopped working for us. We switched to Concerta and that unfortunately had no effect. We eventually switched to adderral XR. It is working the best (but not perfect). I hope your child has better luck than we did. Let us know how it goes!I am not sure you can judge from one day. Sometimes it's just different for the child to not feel so "out of control" they have to adjust to that feeling. It seems like it is worth a shot.
