Well since nobody has replied yet, I'll give you my two cents.  Since the medications work differently for everybody, it's a matter of trial and error.  Therefore, it's difficult to make a generalization about any specific med, because of the variety of medications available.

Aonther 2 cents...

The doc's experience with certain meds should also be taken into account. You will get more out of a med in terms of adjusting it to your needs with a doc that is very experienced and comfortable with the particular med. With meds that are less familiar, the doc may shy away from higher doses or adjusting the dosing schedule for your needs.

I am curious to know which of the stimulants have the most effectiveness-but, not based on personal experience, but in general. What med do you hear the most good things (and bad) about on this forum? which ones do you think have the best reputations?

here's my list based on what I hear here and from other people:

Focalin & XR--fewer side effects and XR lasts longer.

Concerta-lasts longer and less potential for abuse.

Vyvanse-not too much word on this one yet, but from the little I hear about it, it could be the longest-lasting yet, maybe more than 12 hours, possibly fewer side effects, lower abuse potential, I also read somewhere that in clinical studies 95% of subjects saw improvement--which would be a bit higher than the other stims.

This is just based on what I hear, not personal experience. I'm looking at the ones with the least amount of mixed reviews and the most success stories. I'm eager to find out what everyone else thinks!
