caffeine makes my ADD worse | ADHD Information

I'm trying to avoid limiting my diet in any way but caffeine makes all my ADD symptoms worse. My mind races nonstop, I get very talkative, sometimes I even get hyperactive (even though I don't normally have hyperactivity), and my concentration remains the same. Sometimes it's actually harder to concentrate with such a noisy mind (my mind is noisy without any caffeine which is a major part of my inattentiveness, but caffeine exacerbates this). I don't know if this would change if I took meds and caffeine together. I'm still on a fairly low dose of stims that hasn't yet done much for me, but so far my mind has gotten slightly quieter with meds.

caffine gets me motivated to get started  , but im still impulsive  .

too much and i get cranky and listen when i get on a roll i dont check things outbefore i speak

i drank 4 large coffee frappucinos from starbucks on a daily basis prior to taking adhd meds. i have also heard that add/adhd ppl not taking meds drink excessive amounts of caffeine/coffee. some say it calms them down, while others say it helps them focus. for me it helped w/ adhd in a sense that i was more motivated but it also made me more hyper.

now, shortly after i started taking adhd meds the coffee just didnt taste right anymore ( it tasted like butter for some odd reason) and it made me jittery, short of breath and my heart felt like it was gonna pound right outta my chest. not a good feeling. so i got online and searched affects of coffee and adhd stimulant meds and seen that they counteract each other by making the adhd med less effective. so amelody is right, it is best to avoid coffee when taking stimulants.

the reason I asked this is because I hear a lot about caffeine being used to treat ADD, yet with me, it makes it worse. Maybe it depends on what type of ADHD you have? (I'm inattentive, and it makes my focus worse)I was living on coffee before I was put on Adderall, now I don't really need it to stay alert but I still drink it out of habit.  But, I have greatly reduced the amount I drink because it tends to upset my stomach and gets me jittery quicker when I have too much now.  It still helps get me going in the morning though. Me too! I act insane......almost doing backflips. I now switch to decaf. But in
all honesty, I asked my docter and he advised me to steer clear of all
caffeinated products.
