My 6-YO DD's psychologist noticed yesterday that if you ask DD not to do something (climb on the furniture or on me, move pillows, for example), she does it immediately, as if putting the idea in her head makes it impossible for her to resist doing it. She woke up this morning and did several things that are against express rules that she has known for months—she filled a cup with chocolate sauce and lotion and gave it to her brother to drink, painted chicken pox on her brother’s face with red paint, used a jewelry kit that she is not allowed to use without supervision, etc. This all happened in the 10 minutes she was alone while DH and I brushed our teeth and woke up.
