Hello, my son who is 7yrs old was placed on AdderallXR. 5mg last week and increased to 10mg this week. Yesterday was his second day on the 10mg and we all noticed the side effects. Went for pizza with family and he only ate a slice, he was extremely talkative(like non-stop) and finally would not go to bed. He finally fell asleep at 11:00pm
My question(s) is will the side effects subside? I did not notice any improvement in behavior or anything else; does it take a while for the Adderall to build up? I am worried about giving it to him today - but also do not want to skip a dose. There were no side effects with the 5mg dose as well no improvment. He will be with his uncle today and want things to go well.
I should state that he is very focused most of the time even before medication. That is if the topic interests him. He is a very good student receiving As. His problem is more with behavior.

Maybe he isn't really ADHD then. Could just be that he is depressed or deficient in some vitamin or whatnot, maybe something horrible has happened to him in the last few years... heck, could just be a really hyper kid! Did you insist to your Doctor that it must be ADHD?
