Ritalin immunity | ADHD Information

It is not unusual for your body to adjust to the current dose then need a dose increase. There is a period of dose titration where this occurs. This is not "immunity" but tolerance. When you get to the right dose, you should not develope a tolerance to the med and be on the same dose for a very long time. If you are seeing side effects like the panic attacks, the doc will be reluctant to increase, but will move to a different med.

Immunity is when your immune system (antibodies and/or cellular immune system) responds to something that is not part of "self", such as virus, etc. When this happens with a med or pollen it is an inappropriate response and the reaction is an allergy which can show up as hives, airway constriction, anaphylaxis, etc. Another inappropriate immune response is autoimmunity like in MS, type I diabetes, etc.

It is trial and error to find the best med, dose and dosing schedule for the individual. Good luck with this.

Adderrall does tend to incerase anxiety, although ALL stimulants can do this. Maybe trying a different delivery method of the methyphedinate like Concerta or Ritalin LA??? Or just increasing the dose somewhat.Hey All,
So I have been on Ritalin 15 mg 2x daily for about 2 months now... I really feel like I am becoming immune to it because its not having the same affect on me anymore and I get really frustrated when this happens. My doc says that you can't become immune that quickly and doesn't want to switch me to Adderall( which I would like) because she is concerned I may be more prone to panic attacks on it.

Any input?

Thanks everyone!
