Marco, did you notice any side effects at first? I wanted to try Adderall XR first but my doc wanted me to try Concerta and I hate it.
I was on the non time release first and it seemed to be to intense......like I was speeding really bad then I switched to the XR and its been fine ever since.I take 10mg ea morn and seems to do well all day.I also take Welbutrin in the morn but I've only been on it for about a month so I notice a slight difference in the evenings.I dont feel as irritated coming down off of the Adderall. But all in all I havnt had any bad side effects from it.Does the XR give you an initial buzz like feeling? The Concerta gives me a buzzy feeling for about an hour and then it wears off and I'm tired all day. Would you say the XR has improved your concentration from a year ago?My concentration is greatly improved. In fact that is exactly what I seem to have gained.I am able to focus better and complete task.I am able to multitask better without feeling anxious or rushed.did you ever try ritalin? I took adderall a few times in college and it was amazing how well it worked for me. I want to try the regular adderall but I've heard so many bad stories about the coming down effect you get, but I've also read the medicine lasts about 6 hours.Hi--- I've taken both ritalin and adderall meds including adderall, adderall xr, and concerta. I am currently taking adderall xr and quick-release. I find that I like them much better than the methylphenidate. For me, the concerta didn't work very well....I wasn't my usual old bubbly self (although I wasn't really depressed or angry either.) I also didn't seem to be as productive; the overall effects just weren't great.
I am currently taking adderall xr/quick-release because it seems to keep me in my usual good mood and it helps take the edge off of my crazy life hehe...I've been taking it for a couple of years now and am pretty happy with my results. Although my concentration is better than with no meds, it's not quite as good as a mid-acting methylphenidate that I have tried.
I find that the XR really minimizes the peaks and troughs, and therefore has a more stable outcome that is really nice....if ya have any questions, just post them or pm me...my mind is wandering so I've got to stop, sorry!
Hi, Dean. Did the concerta make you tired at all? I notice that when i first take the pill i get an initial buzz like feeling and then it all drops away and i get tired, and very un motivated.
Do you combine the quick release adderall and xr?
Hi, intergalak! Yeah, the concerta actually did make me quite tired....exactly!! It wasn't a matter of too much either...I tried a variety of doses and none of them seemed to work.
Yeah, I do combine the quick release adderall with the xr. I have pretty much figured out what to take and when to take it according to how I'm functioning at the time. I space out my doses and mix/match as needed....I don't always take the quick release though. It just kind of depends, I find that the quick release has a slightly different effect on my "processes and functioning" which is beneficial at times and not at others.
Hopefully that helps a bit, I'm open to answer any other questions, so just post them or pm me and I'll do my best to help!

Hello! My son is 12 and started on regular Adderall 10mg daily and over two weeks worked up to 20mg once a day (7am). He seemed to do fine on it. The doctor initially wanted him to use Concerta but we could not get him to swallow so that's why we went to Adderall. Well at his 6 week checkup I asked if when in the beginning the doc wanted him to use Concerta which is an extended release, why would he not have put my son on Adderall XR? So we did. He took XR 20mg at 7am for a week and he said he doesn't like it. He said he is less focused, angry, always hungry, and he is so sleepy. I was surprised at the last two - because all's I hear about is people not being able to sleep or eat?!? I have a call in to the doctor now to put him back on regular Adderall but I'm wondering if we do that if we should increase his dosage. Appreciate any input!
sawbuck4438309.4147222222I'm 24 and was recently diagnosed. My doctor put me on concerta and I stopped taking it a few days ago. I have had more bad side effects than postive. I personally think it has something to do with how long the medicine is in your system. I take it in the morning and around 1pm I feel tired, agrivated and very very un motivated. I was taking 36mg and tried 18 mg for a week and still had the same effects. Somedays i would have no appetite and some days I would. I'm going to ask the doctore to switch me to adderall. I'd rather have something in my system for 4-5 hours than 12. By the time the medicine wears off around 9pm I feel better but the day is over.
