dexedrine xr | ADHD Information
Dexedrine spansules which is the extended release form can be sprinkled. It is an older medicine but my 11 yr old took it for about a year when he was about 7 and couldn't/wouldn't swallow pills. It lasts about 8 hours for most people. My son rebounded in the afternoons when coming off this and did much better on Concerta. However, it wasn't a bad choice for him early on when he couldn't swallow the pills. I can't speak for how adderall compares becasue we never tried that one. If you are happy with the reg release dexedrine, it seems the next step would be to at least try the spansules.
My son currently takes 5 mg. 4x per day for ADHD along with Risperdal for behavior. Considering starting him on an extended release form of the Dexedrine. My son has issues with swallowing pills - can you open the caps and sprinkle on applesauce? Anyone had success with switching to the extended release? How many hours does it last?
Sorry for all the questions, just curious.

Adderall XR can be sprinkled. You never can predict how something will work. Changing the delivery methoad means a whole new world. I think it's worth a try. Giving meds 4 times a day must be quite the challenge!
