1st sleepover tonight | ADHD Information

My son had his first sleepover 6 months ago - was also his first night EVER away from us. Loved it, was fine and has slept over a few times since.  I felt exactly like you do ... ! But I was fine too.  Good luck

OK - My almost 8yr old dd with ADHhhhD left the house about 1/2 hr ago for her 1st sleepover. We adopted her about 3 yrs ago, so on top of behavioral concerns, also there are concerns that she might flip out as this is her 1st time sleeping at someone's house without us.  Friends are just across the street and wonderful people. Mom is a preschool director. I jokingly said as I dropped my dd off "I hope you get some sleep tonight." Now I am the one wondering if I am going to get any sleep tonight!

It was all kind of impromptu which made me nervous, then, as I was leaving, the friend's older sister was also inviting a friend over. The older sister and friend both babysit my dd fairly regularly, and my dd has had two successful sleepovers at our house with her friend.

She has also been doing AWESOME at night after Concerta has worn off (we added Straterra recently in addition to upping efforts to encourage better self-control), but I am still nervous. I gave her a dose of short-acting Ritalin as she left. I told my dd and the mom to call me at anytime if needed.

Please keep her in your thought, send her some good vibes and/or if so inclined, prayers, that she has a good time. And that I get some sleep - I have to go towork in the morning!

She will do GREAT! Sleep well That's great that she's getting this "rite of passage experience."  I hope it's a positive experience for her, and I hope you get some sleep!

Thanks for the prayers/good vibes-they helped because she had an AWESOME time. Just got off the phone with the mom (I had to work today) and she said she had NO problems with her. Did say she got "unusually quiet" in the morning. When asked, she stated she was wondering if we would "remember" that she was not at home. The mom was smart and sent her home after breakfast.

Per my dh, she arrived in home a bit on the "pissy" side. Later found out they stayed up until 12:30 p. I must have felt the vibes because about then beacuse about that time I decided if I hadn't received a phone call, all was good.

Ok - off to challenge #2 - a week at the beach with a friends and family!!! We leave tomorrow......

Sounds great! Glad the little one had such an awesome time on her first big independent evening

That's kinda cute "remembering" if she 'was not at home'. I hope you assured her you missed her smiling face over the breakfast table

Good for her!

Enjoy the beach!

congratulations!!!!!

12:30 - that's early for a sleep over!!!!!
