umm the doctor needs to be kept aware of these things . its ok to keep a journal of every ten minutes . and fax to the doctor a couple of days before an appointment.
i do this at work , i work with 14 kids at a time adhd/bipolar/odd sometimes the people in charge of thier treatment arent aware of trends so its up to you to document it so they can see the trends.
long nights are medical and do not have to be tolerated all the time.
I called her Dr. this am. We are going to try the med a couple more days and see how she does...so far today has went well. She continues to be more emotional but no big crying spells, except for when she doesn't get her way... Her Dx. ADHD, Oppositional Disorder....
10 mg as a starting dose for a 4 year-old may have been a little too much; some docs start at 5 mg for a few weeks then titrate to the therapeutic dose as needed. Expect to see some emotional lability the first week or so, then everything should start to smooth out. I cannot explain the "shakeyness" after 5 minutes as the drug does not release itself that fast. Some people see a result after 30 minutes. My DS shows improvement after 60+ minutes. It has worked well for us, but has destroyed his appetite. I have a 4 year old girl...soon to be 5 in Sept. She started her first dose of Adderol XR 10mg today. She became mildly shakey almost within 5 min. of swallowing the pill..within a few hours she became extremelly emotional. She cried with tears the entire day. Everything hurt her feelings.....Aprox 12 hours later she seems to have "snapped" back, and now is WIDE awake, looks like it will be a long night......Im sooo unsure of whether to continue meds tomorrow....please help.
My son couldn't handle adderall xr. It made him have horrible rebound, very aggitated, very emotional.
I wonder if it's not the med for your daughter.
Call her doctor ASAP!
I would also call the doctor. He/she may suggest trying it for a few more days, but that's your call.
