I just wanted to share my experience from adderall xr to vyvanse.
I am an adult that was diagnosed a while ago with adhd. i started on adderall xr which was working really well with my symptoms (very impulsive and hyperactive) but was not doing so well with rebound later in the day. i would feel slightly aggervated and little things like my kids playing roughly would get me annoyed (terrible i know) but i learned to deal with it b/c of how great the med was working. i also had slight issues with decreased appettite and insomnia. I wouldn't be too hungry during the day on xr but could eat later in the evening. as for sleep, that would depend on what was on my mind during that day as to how well/not well i slept.
my doctor discussed vyvanse with me so i decided to give it a shot! i am on 30mg of vyvanse (not sure if i need to titrate up but waiting to see). I have been on it for 3 weeks now and it is working awesome for me! the 1st week was rough! still no appettite but first 2 nights i would wake up in middle of night....not fun. i stuck it out though and by 2nd week appettite was normal throughout the day (unlike with xr) and by tuesday of the 2nd week, i was sleeping throughout the evening and not waking up!!!! what a relief! i will say i still have vivid dreams but i'll take that over no sleep!
it's the 3rd week and it's still working great! i can honestly say it starts working within 35 min. in the morning and is lasting til about 8:30 which is perfect for me. i normally take med anywhere from 7:30/7:45.
