Face breaking out | ADHD Information

Anyone have any solutions for the "for no apparent reason" acne breakouts? I've always had oily skin, but with a reasonably clear complexion. I don't wear make-up.  I know the Adderol is causing it, but what can I do to diminish these outbreaks?

 

Stress usually causes breakouts.  Stimulants speed up the central nervous system.  Are you taking Adderall XR? When I took it, I had terrible breakouts after just two days.  If the benefits outweigh the side effects from Adderall, and you don't feel like ditching the meds, I'd go see a dermatologist to prescribe me an antibiotic to take.  I'm currently taking wellbutrin xl, and for some reason it also causes me to break out.  Not sure if I'm allergic to something in the extended release meds, but I always have breakouts on them.

I'm taking the regular "non-XR" version of Adderall.  I was just trying to figure out what was causing the breakouts.  I was pretty sure it had something to do with the meds, but how it was doing it was the question.  Was it causing my face to be oily? Was it hormonal?  Should I was my face more often?  Would taking an antibiotic clear it up only for it to recur again when I'm through with the course? How does an increase in the stimulation to the Central Nervous System cause this to happen?

An unrelated thought here, has anyone thought about the fact that we're all having to take meds in order to function in a society that we didn't set up? All the busy, busy, busy goal oriented, up before sunrise, Poor Richards Almanac, type A, artistic expression is for dreamy looser people have all set rules and if we don't want to starve or die because we don't have medical insurance paid for by the company we've enslaved ourselves to, then we have to join them...so we take Ritalin or Adderall. I don't think it's us with the disorder.  Maybe it's them.

I remember reading somewhere that Napoleon (might have been Alexander) gave rations of Opium to his soldiers so they wouldn't feel the pain from the long marches.  Likewise, didn't Hitler's military officers issue amphetimines to the German troops in order for them to keep going?

I think we need to read George Orwell and Albert Huxley again.

yes, I know the adderall is causing an acne like breakouts.
here is another strange one, have you noticed a difference in your body oder?
smells like melting plastic to me :)

my theory on both, ( IMHO)  your body is going through a speeded up type renewal process,  my hair and nails grow faster also. so I think impurities are making their way to the surface faster, I know my skin really looks better overall ,  more fresh and renewed, except for those pesky zits. Try just a topical on the zits, whatever works, like a clearasil, tee tree oil, nuetrogena has a new one says it will work in 8 hours, gotta try that one
if you try something else, it might open up another set of issues, antibiotics=yeast etc

has anyone else, experienced this?
any fixes?
