taking responsibility of their actions | ADHD Information

Hi

I am new to this board and am fed up with my daughter who is 14  adhd and on ritalin. Her school  seem to be one the telephone at least once a week regarding her behaviour and attitude. The bottom line is jess forgets to take ritalin at dinner time and does not know how to shut her mouth up. today some classmate was eye balling her and she started swearing across the classroom. teacher said it was not just her, however the teacher has decided she needs to take responsiblity for her actions and possiblily exclusion is on the cards

Because jess `s attitude  is terrible when she misses a tablet they decided to sent her home as a punishment, but jess decided to stay in school today and still forgot the tablet. Am I banging my head against a brick wall trying to get her to take responsibility? she feels there is nothing wrong with her its just everyone else picking on her, and does not need a tablet

my 13 year old started all that hum bug stuff at 12 -well you know what; he takes his meds now - how -I give it to him with a glass of water he is on time release adderall so only has to take it at home - I started out with the reward system - if you take your meds you can watch 15 extra min. of tv at night- I gave him two choices take the meds in the morning when I give them to you or no tv - so you see I gave choices and consequences as well - I have not had trouble since - it took about 3 weeks for me to get him to take his meds without being told. remember you are 100% in control of your own actions - she knows your buttons to push and she is very good at it - as far as attitude, don't feed on that - talk to her do things with her get involved - she is crying for your attention give her positive attention

hope this helps God bless
