Spotty Hair Loss

My 14 year old son, was diagnosed with ADHD 3 years ago.  We started him out on Ritalin, but after several dose changes settled on Concerta.  He has been on the Concerta for a little over a year now, and I have started to notice a few changes in him.  He seems to be a little hyper again, so we upped the dosage.  But about 2 months ago, I noticed a spot on his head that has absolutely no hair.  It has started to get bigger, and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.  My son does not need to be bald in high school!  He is also the shortest kid in the 9th grade.  His 6th grade sister is the same height.  Another side effect??  Does anyone have any ideas???  Thanks!I have a question. Do you think he is pulling it? The reason I ask is my daughter, on Concerta last year, started pulling out her eyelashes and eyebrows, it's called trichotillomania. It was AWFUL. We stopped the stimulant meds and she stopped doing it...............he may not tell you he is doing it, he may not even realize he is doing it. My daughters doctor said they do not even know they are doing it. They do it due to "internal restlessness" during times of boredom/quiet. Watching tv, during class lectures, reading.....etc. It seems it has coincided with the Concerta increase which is another reason I ask. In her case it was 100% due to the stimulant.

Do you think he is pulling it out of anxiety and has not idea he is doing it?

My son has been on concerta for the past 4 years and has grown a lot. He is 5 ft tall and 100 lbs, he is 10. It took a while for his body to adjust to the meds then he took off again with his growth.

We have had none of this as a side effect from concerta.

He also takes guanfacine for overstimulation.
