Welcome.

I too do not give my son (cody) meds on weekend and holidays I only give it to him for school or when he really needs to focus and sit still like church. he takes 10 mg Methyln (chewable) in the morning and a 5mg in the afternoon that the school gives him. He does not register on the chart for growth he is about the size of a 6 year old and is 8. my boyfriends daughter is 7 and towers him.  that is the only side effect that I seem to have with him is the eating, he eats a big breakfast cause the meds havent kicked it as of yet, and a little lunch and seems to eat a big supper so hopefully with the med holiday he will catch up on growth :-)

Hi shanameggs!

You have a lot in common with us here on the boards, as well as the not medicating on the weekends.

I do medicate my son every day because he needs it 24/7. He also is growing and gaining weight so that concern has passed.

You have found a wonderful place! I have learned so much from just reading and asking questions. No professional in the field could do it as well as this board does!

Living with it in the family is so different than studying it in a book, if you know what I mean!

Keep reading and posting!!

Welcome to these boards,

Beth

thanks beth 4 welcoming me its good 2 talk with other parents with same or simalar problems i will read on and hopefully learn.thanks.rachel mum of brodie shanameggs39308.1326041667

If there are so many side effects, insomnia, lack of appetetite, increased anxiety, maybe a different med choice will help. If you are struggling with behaviors off meds, he may need to take them wekekends and vacations and if you find something that doesnt cause as many side effects it may be easier on him to take when not in school too.
