I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD.  THIS IS ALL NEW TO ME.  WE HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING FOR A LONG TIME WITH DYLAN AND I FINALLY HAD A TEACHER LAST YEAR WHILE HE WAS IN 3RD GRADE THAT  SAID SHE SEEES WHAT I SEE.  IT IS GOIGN TO BE A LONG ROAD BUT  I FEEL YOUR SUPPORT AND KNOWLEDGE HAS HELPED ME IN THE SHORT TIME I HAVE BEEN LURKING AND POSTING.  DYLAN IS A SMART BOY AND HAS A GOOD HEART AND WE ARE TRYING TO GET HIM ON THE RIGHT MEDS RIGHT NOW HE IS ON VYVANSE AND WE LOVE IT DURING THE DAY, BUT WISH HE WOULD SLEEP AT NIGHT.  ANY SUGGESTIONS?  HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL  AND ONCE AGAIN THANKS

Hi
we had problems with sleeping on meds, I don't know of the one your son is on, but if its a stim then one of the side effects is troble sleeping, coupled with the fact that a lot of kids whith ADHD find getting to sleep difficult anyway.
If having a consistant structured bedtime routine isn't working, then you may need to try ssome sleeping tablets, such as Melatonin which is a hormone naturally produced in the brain, to tell you its time to sleep, or some sort of antihistamine which have the side effect of causing drowsyness, although this does loose effectiveness over time., but it may be long enough to get him in the habit of going to sleep.

Hope this helps

also give him his med as early as possible. Even if you have to wake him up tot ake it and then he goes back to sleep for an hour or two.
