adhd and weed | ADHD Information

I have adhd and im 21... i started smoking weed everyday and noticed it helped me concetrate alot better than if i wasnt high... i am still hyper but it helps me remember things and im alot more organized if i smoke weed everday... unlike with taking adderall everday I eat, sleep better, and I still have my drive to want to get things done when adderall made me really calm and not want to do anything. Anyone else who can relate to this?

im  glad you the benefits of being medicated for your adhd.

pot is a very bad choice to treat adhd long term.

adhd drugs have been around for over 50 years now.

pot has been considered about 40 years ago and was ruled out all together.

also  i see that you have a ned to be in control of your situation , but please hear me . get advice from someone who treats adhd for a living they may help find the best drug/med  now rather than tring to self med yourself with things that may cause death long term.

another way to look at it is if we list out all 450 drugs that have been used to treat adhdsince 1950   pot isnt even on the list because it actually makes some of our symptoms worse

I do understand where your coming from, as weed does have a sedative effect, and it also helps with your appertite.  The main problem appart from the obvious that its illegal, is that it can produce parranioya, which in a person with ADHD would probably be dramatically increased as apposed to a person without ADHD.  Anther problem, which you may already be finding is that the more you smoke it, the more you need to get the same effect, I'm not saying that its addictive, just that your body gets used to the effects, so that over time it looses it effectiveness and you need two joints instead of one to get the same effect.
As a mother myself I also feel that I should point out the assosiated risks of cancer if you smoking it as a joint, and the latest research which shows an increased risk of developing mental helth issues such as skitsophrenia (spelt wrong sorry) in a person that already has a tendancy towards  such  condition.
At the end of the day, your an adult, and you have ultimat responsabilty for your life and how you live it, but  you may find that in the long term weed may not be the best soultion.
Speak to your doctor, tell him/her your concerns about your perscribed meds, and ask what can be done, you will never know unless you ask.
Good luck with what ever path you choose, I hope you sort your legal meds out, and find something that suits you better
maybe Adderall is not the right med for you? Weed is illegal and too risky.
