I have heard that the success rate is 50% to 70% for Straterra, and it is less likely to work for children with co-morbids. Getting the dosage right is the key.
Thanks so much! Yes the doctor said you start at the low dose for 4 days and then slowly move up. I am hopeful this will work out. I am having major surgery beginning of Sept and hate to change now but the side effects of the Daytrana were too much to bear and with her starting school here next week (2nd grade) she couldnt function like that. *sighTina my daughter got the same way with pulling at her hair and compulsive scratching on stimulants this past year (Concerta). She is so much better off the stimulants. I am not sure how her focus will be for school, but we dont really have much choice.
Good luck with the Straterra.
My DD had excellent results with Strat. The only reason we stopped it was weight gain, but she has gained weight on ALL meds.
Strat needs to be started at 10 mgs and ramped slowly to the target dose. It will take 4-6 weeks after reaching target dose( so 6-8 weeks total) to see complete results. Too high or too low of a dose, or too fast of a ramp can cause side effects, and mood swings. Tagrt dose is 1.2-1.8 mgs per kilo of body weight.
