Do you ever get to the "right" dose? | ADHD Information
I freaked out with 20Mg of Ritalin at once and went back to 10Mg early and 10Mg later. On long days, I'll take a third 10Mg tablet. Several months ago I started taking 15Mg early and I felt the 10 wasn't enough. That seems to be doing it for me, but there are days, when I feel that the 15Mg is not enough. However, I personally don't want to take more than necessary because my biorthym is off, I haven't had enough protein in the last few days or something else. My doc has given me the OK to take more, but I use other means to "keep myself together" like post-its, alarms, and so forth.
I feel more "together" after exercises, even though I might be more physically tired. When I fight with my wife, I feel less so. When my son (also ADD) has a big test coming up. I also feel less together.
When I am tired, I do not see as well, but I am not going to go out and get stronger glasses. My opinion is to look for ways to get yourself more organized and only up the dosage if they don't work. These are drugs and they do have an physical effect on your body. Just be careful!
I'm a little discouraged and looking for some support! I've been on meds for about 5 months. I started out on Focalin XR, and no matter how high we raised the dosage, I was burning right through it in only a very few hours and would absolutely crash and burn! I switched to Concerta, which once I got past the initial "yuck" feeling, has worked wonders for me! After two months of being on 36mg which seemed to be just right, suddenly I felt like it wasn't as effective. So I'm now up to 54 mg and wondering if it ever stops going up? I just haven't felt as "together" as I did when we first started meds, want that feeling back, if you know what I mean!?!
Any comments/opinions would be appreciated!
